Patriots 38 Seahawks 23

The New England Patriots found themselves down 23-0 and then went on to score 38 unanswered points and defeated the Seattle Seahawks 38-23 at Sullivan Stadium. Steve Grogan started for the Patriots and didn't complete a pass, at least to a member of his team. Seattle led 9-0 after the first quarter behind a Norm Johnson 42 yard field goal and a Dave Krieg 41 yard touchdown pass to Daryl Turner. Paul Johns returned a punt 47 yards for another score as Seattle built a 16-0 lead. Then on the ensuing drive, Kenny Easley intercepted Grogan and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown. That would be the end of Grogan's afternoon, finishing 0-4 with one interception. In came Tony Eason and before halftime was able to score on a 25 yard run to bring New England within 16 points, at 23-7. In the second half it was all New England. Mosi Tatupu scored twice on runs, one from ten and one from a yard out. Tony Franklin added a 32 yard field goal and Eason threw two touchdown passes. He threw a two yarder to Derrick Ramsey and a 15 yarder to Irving Fryar. For Fryar it was his first NFL touchdown. Eason was 12 of 22 for 126 yards with the two touchdowns. Tony Collins rushed for a game high 107 yards on 20 carries. Krieg completed 17 of 35 passes for 265 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. New England held Seattle to just 37 yards rushing on 28 attempts, forced three turnovers and sacked Krieg five times.
